Closed lounge

So I went home for the weekend to visit my girlfriend up at Siena and also to see my family and when I came back I found out there would be a floor meeting. I was wondering what could have happened over the weekend that I missed while I was gone. So I go to the floor meeting at 8pm which is held in the lounge of the second floor of Hendrick. At the meeting, Mike, my RA, says that someone over the weekend had thrown shaving cream all over the stairs and that whoever it was should come clean about it. It was not just our floor tho who had this meeting, every floor had one and all of the RA's said the same thing to them. They said that if someone turned themselves in there would be no consequences, but because no one has and I doubt any one will, the RAs decided to lock up all of the lounges as well as not allow anyone to rent out any of the equipment to play ping pong, pool or fuseball. Now this is pretty annoying mainly because I wasn't even here for this mess and I come back and have to face the consequences of it. I'm also annoyed because the lounge is always a good place to hang out because it's easy to chill with all your friends from the hall and now that it's closed, we can't all hang out at once. The good news however is that I heard they can't keep the lounge closed for more than a week because it is against a law or something like that. Whatever it is I'm happy for that, but I'm pretty sure there is no law that they can't not let us use the equipment. This situation sucks but hopefully it will get resolved somehow.

It does seem a rather draconian approach to the situation.

That stinks. Something like that happened to my floor too where kids shaving creamed the bathroom and our entire floor got in trouble. Thats unfair though that you weren't even at the dorm during the weekend and your still getting in trouble. Hopefully it will get resolved soon.

This whole situation was horrible.

The worst part is that they floor in which we believe the kids did the shaving cream, had their lounge open for "studying purposes only". But people were in there just hanging out like we do on every floor.

These RA's went a little too far in punishing the entire building. They should investigate the entire situation. However, it is illegal for them to be asking questions so I guess it was the only reasonable thing the could think of, even though I do not agree.

P.S. we got our lounges back yesterday! So we are all happier!
