break

So im loving it here at cortland, but i mean i think once break comes along i'll be ready to go home for a little bit. It's tough because when you go home you get used to being back home and being with your friends and family, so it sucks having to adjust again once you get back here. Im not quite sure what ill be doing when i go home. Im definitely going to hang out with my friends as much as possible. It's tough though because one thing that sucks about spring break is that everyone has theirs at different times. I mean i must heard four different spring break dates from my friends. So because of that, I'll probably try to go and visit a couple of my friends that are still at college when im on my break. I also want to make sure i spend time with my family because i miss them and it's good to sit down and eat a nice dinner and just talk about whatever comes to mind. I was also thinking about trying to work over break because i could use the money, but i really don't want to waste my time working because we arent even home for very long. I have a feeling that even though spring break is only like a week and a half away, it's going to take forever to come because that's just how it works. But who knows, maybe it will fly by and break will be here. I wish i could go to like cancun or floridato experience the spring breaks you see on tv and in the movies. Im sure at some point when i have enough money i will be able to get a few of my friends and we will all go somewhere.

sibling weekend

Although I did not know that it was sibling weekend, i had my brother here anyway. He had told me earlier in the week that he was going to come here sometimes over the weekend. Anyway on friday night I went out to go party and when i came back i was hanging out and then i received a call. I looked to see who it was and it was my brother so i picked it up. I was talking to him for a little bit until he told me he had to go and he would call me back in a little bt. I decided just to go to my room and chill for a little bit until he called me back. As i was sitting in my chair in my room, the door opened and tyler was standing right there. I was pretty excited because i did not know he was coming then, especially since it was 2:30 in the morning. Anyway we hung out until like 5:00am and then went to sleep. In the morning we went to the Syracuse mall and then went out to party. The party was overall a good time and tyler said he had a really fun time. Although tyler is my younger sibling, he is only younger by six minutes. Yes, tyler is my twin. We are not identical though, so it is pretty easy to tell us apart. Being a twin is really cool. I mean your best friend is your family so how could it not be cool? Plus it's easy to hang out with him because we both love to do the same exact stuff. Although it may get annoying sometimes and we may get in fights, overall i feel bad for people who do not have a twin and will never get to experience having one.

weather

I dont know about anyone else, but I can't stand the weather sometimes. I mean I'm so glad that it snowed because this weekend I'm going to go snowboarding but I mean it's such a pain when you have to go to class. I mean you start off dry and warm in your dorm room and then once you walk outside to go to your class everything changes. Depending on the weather it's either freezing cold, raining, snowing, or all three. And by the time you get to your class your feet are soaking (well at least mine are). Having to sit in class with wet feet is not the most comfortable thing either. While you're sitting in class your feet slowly start to dry and by the time they finally do dry, class is over and you get to walk back into the large clumps of wet snow on the sidewalk. Plus, when you get back to your dorm room you're walking around in wet shoes and the whole floor gets wet. Not to mention you have to change your socks everytime you go in or outside. I think I could fix this problem by getting a pair of boots but I dont have a car so I'll have to wait until I go home for break. It's always tough to decide what kind of weather you really want. I mean I don't know if it's just me but when it's really hot I just want it to be cold and snowing and when it's really cold I just want it to be summer and warm again. I'm just glad that I live in a place where I get to experience the winter as well as the summer. I really don't have much else to say I'm kind of just trying to get enough words for this post but I think I have enough or I am Pretty close to it.

Closed lounge

So I went home for the weekend to visit my girlfriend up at Siena and also to see my family and when I came back I found out there would be a floor meeting. I was wondering what could have happened over the weekend that I missed while I was gone. So I go to the floor meeting at 8pm which is held in the lounge of the second floor of Hendrick. At the meeting, Mike, my RA, says that someone over the weekend had thrown shaving cream all over the stairs and that whoever it was should come clean about it. It was not just our floor tho who had this meeting, every floor had one and all of the RA's said the same thing to them. They said that if someone turned themselves in there would be no consequences, but because no one has and I doubt any one will, the RAs decided to lock up all of the lounges as well as not allow anyone to rent out any of the equipment to play ping pong, pool or fuseball. Now this is pretty annoying mainly because I wasn't even here for this mess and I come back and have to face the consequences of it. I'm also annoyed because the lounge is always a good place to hang out because it's easy to chill with all your friends from the hall and now that it's closed, we can't all hang out at once. The good news however is that I heard they can't keep the lounge closed for more than a week because it is against a law or something like that. Whatever it is I'm happy for that, but I'm pretty sure there is no law that they can't not let us use the equipment. This situation sucks but hopefully it will get resolved somehow.

Soccer

Soccer has been my favorite sport since I was old enough to be able to decide that it was my favorite sport. My mother told me that I started kicking around a soccer ball right after I learned to walk. When I was five years old I had a decision to make. I was palying both t-ball and soccer at the same time, but since they were at the same time I had to decide which one I would rather play. At first I wanted to play both but I knew I wouldn'd be able to so I made the decision to play soccer. I'm glad I made that decision and I definitely don't regret it. Ever since then I started playing summer soccer, which occurred from early July to mid August. I played just that until I got into 7th grade, where I was able to try out for the modified team for my school. I made it no problem and in 7th and 8th grade I played on that team as well as summer soccer. When I got into high school I played for the schools junior varsity team. I played that in 9th and 10th grade and in 10th grade I was captain for the team. It was pretty exciting and I felt pretty confident about leading the team. Also in 10th grade, I started playing travel soccer, which occurred during the spring. So now, I was playing travel soccer, summer soccer and soccer for my school. In 11th grade I moved up to playing varsity soccer. I also started an indoor soccer league at a place called Afrims. Now, I was playing soccer all year round. Unfortunately, in the summer before my senior year, an injury occurred while I was playing summer soccer. I had hurt my knee the day before my final summer soccer game, but I decided to play on it anyway. As I went to go shoot on the goal with my left foot, I kciked the ball and my knee exploded. Right away I knew my knee was messed up. The next day I went to the emergency room and the doctor told me that I shredded my medial meniscus and would need surgery right away. Rather than be scared of the surgery, I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to play in my senior year of soccer. After the surgery was over I was told I would be on crutches for two months. Right there my heart dropped. Because I tried to force myself to play on a hurt knee, I ended up messing it up worse and ruining my chances for playing. It was also upsetting because my coach said he was going to name me captain. Now, a year and half later I still play soccer but it's hard to play here mainly because it takes up soo much of your time. I am playing in an intramural team in the Spring and I can't wait. I will also probably play club soccer next year for Cortland.

snowboarding season

So far, this snowboarding season has been quite terrible. I mean when we got our first big snowfall in November, I assumed that this winter would be the best one in awhile. I was wrong however. I mean even though we have gotten a good amount of snow, it never lasts long enough. For example, whenever we have a big snowfall, the next day it rains or it's 50 degrees outside. Some people might like this because they don't like the snow, but for us snowboarders who like to go to the mountain it sucks! Since I only live 20 minutes away from Windham Mountain, I usually go every weekend but since I have been at college I have only been able to go over winter break. It kind of sucks too because we had only one good snowfall while I was home and then it melted away.

I also tore some ligaments in my back over break from snowboarding. It was about 60 degrees outside one day and my friend asked me if I wanted to go riding. At first I wasn't sure if I wanted to go because I was pretty tired, but I decided to go anyway. It was really nice riding in the warm weather, but there were a bunch of grass spots as well as slippery spots. We decided to go to the park because we heard there was a jump open. The jump looked kind of sketchy but we figured it couldnt be too bad. I went first and hit the jump fine, no problem. The jump was probably like 25 feet, so I figured even if I did fall it wouldn't hurt that much. Anyway, my friend hits the jump next and does fine also. After that we start to ride down this part of the mountain where it drops suddenly. I always do this no problem but as I was riding my board kicked out from underneath me and I fell onto my stomach and my legs went over my head. As this happened I felt something pop in my back and I suddently couldnt breathe. Instead of waiting for the saftey patrol to come I rode down the rest of the mountain and right into first aid. There, they strapped me down and took me to the ambulance. It kind of sucks too because when I think about it I wasn't even planning on going riding that day.
